Just a Reminder…

…to head on over to my new blog! New post is up :)

Moving Along…New Blog!

20 Jan

Well, after lots of thought, I decided to try my luck using Blogger. I really wanted to move this entire blog over to Blogger, but alas, WordPress doesn’t want you to do that, so they make it too difficult! haha :) I will still be using this blog to give updates on life from time to time, but ultimately, I plan to focus on my new blog. My direction has changed quite a bit since I started blogging, and I’m much more interested in writing about fashion, fitness, and hopefully travel in the near future! :) I hope to see all of your faces at my new blog! Thanks so much :)

Should I Stay or Should I Go?

16 Jan

Well, as I mentioned several times, I’ve been hoping to go abroad for the Summer. I’ve been spending way too much time (time that should probably be spent reading for classes…ha) reading travel websites and figuring out where I should visit, where to stay, what to see…etc. While looking at all of these potential ideas, I came up with another idea. Why not have an Internship abroad?! How exciting would that be???

So I started doing more research…and found a whole list of organizations that work to help you actually get an internship in the country of your choice. My choice? London. Its such a gorgeous place. Who wouldn’t want to wake up every morning and walk past beautiful parks and Buckingham Palace? And the culture…oh, don’t get me started on that. Its such a culturally rich place, and the depth of the history is just extraordinary. Plus, London is pretty centrally located for me to be able to travel when I have time. Chunnel to France? NBD. Cheap flight to Italy? Sure. Oh yeah–and my family emigrated from the UK. Many many many years ago. But that’s beside the point ;)

So, how do I feel about working abroad? Really excited, actually. It can almost seem like a burden to go overseas and then work, but honestly, it would be so neat to experience a job in a foreign country. Plus, I may be able to work in Parliament or for a Trial Attorney, which would be so interesting in itself. So, here I am, faced with a final decision…should I take the plunge and intern abroad this summer?!

Some Recent Deals

10 Jan

Well, I started off the year saying I wasn’t going to shop much. I’d say I’ve done so-s0 at sticking with that goal…haha. First of all, the Victoria’s Secret Semi-Annual Sale started last Tuesday, and I definitely did some damage there! But the Semi-Annual Sale is pretty much the only time I buy things like yoga pants, PINK sweats, new bras, etc. because the deals are SO good…why would I go buy the same things for full price when I can wait until January or July?!

Some deals I found:

L to R: Boyfriend Pant, $25 online (I paid less than $20 in-store though!); VS PINK Multi-Way Bra, $26.99 online; T-Shirt Demi Bra, $15.99 online

I also finally got a watch similar to one I’ve been eyeing for a while. I really wanted the Michael Kors version, but there are so many look-a-likes at much better prices, so I decided to go cheap on this one. I rarely wear a watch to begin with, so I’m trying to get used to having one on. Not to mention, I had $20 in Amazon Rewards….and the watch was $19.99! So I paid $4.95 total (for shipping) and basically got a free watch!

The one on the left is the one I bought for $19.99 on Amazon.com, and the Michael Kors Runway watch is on the right (On sale for $169 on Amazon.com!)…sure, its not exactly like the “authentic” MK watch, but its pretty similar at a much lower price!

Also, if you’ve never heard of Groupon…you should definitely check it out! I recently signed up to get the Groupon Deal of the Day for my area and I’ve seen some really great deals so far. They have 50% offers to restaurants pretty often, so if you like to go out to dinner…there ya go. I personally had been on the lookout for a Hot Yoga deal, since its typically so expensive! After checking Groupon and a few other sites with daily deals pretty regularly, I FINALLY found one! I have never been to this studio, but its one of the premier locations in the area, so I’ll give it a shot :)

I paid $40 for 10 classes…the retail price was $120, so I saved $80! Well worth it for yoga classes…they’re so pricey!

I tend to check out designer clothing discount sites pretty often, as mentioned in this post…even though I’m trying not to spend much money, I had been on the lookout for a pair of black skinny jeans for a while now. I kept seeing different types on Ruelala, Hautelook, and Beyond the Rack, but at $85+, I decided to wait around for a better deal. I logged onto Bluefly the other day, and lo and behold, I found a pair of James Jeans on sale for $54.39! I couldn’t pass that up, so I finally ordered some black skinnies.

I don’t have anything else I’m on the lookout for at the moment (which is a good thing! haha), so I’m going to try and stop spending $$$! I really need to start saving up if I’m going to go to Europe this summer! ;)

What deals have you found lately?

Goals for 2011

1 Jan

Like I said before…I am not much of a “resolution” maker. If there is something I want to do or to have, I start working toward it right away. Why wait for the new year when you can go ahead and start working toward achieving your goals? :) However, I do have a few goals I’d like to accomplish in 2011. There are a lot of things I think about as the days go by, so I don’t have every goal for this new year already decided!

1. Travel to Europe, hopefully for the summer – This has been weighing on my mind for a while now, and well, there’s no time like the present! It would make much better sense to travel throughout Europe while I’m still in law school and still have a “summer break” and won’t have a job tying me down. Plus, at 21 (almost 22!) I feel like I’m at a perfect age to do this…old enough, mature enough, yet young enough to have lots of fun and not hold back from anything! :)

2. Run a Marathon…already accepted to ING NYC 2011 – I think this is the year I want to train for a marathon, but I also think that might depend on my travel plans! If I’m in Europe for the summer, I don’t think training for NYC will be very feasible…unless I find a running partner while I’m there ;)

3. Train for a sub-1:50 Half Marathon – I have confidence in myself that I can do this…as long as I train the way I should! I ran my last half in 1:55, and I have been running consistently faster since then, so I don’t think this goal will be too difficult to achieve :)

4. Put together cute outfits from my closet and stop shopping all the time! – A few weeks ago, I was feeling inspired, and put together some really cute outfits from clothes that I already own. I just need to get better at doing this regularly instead of being in constant “shopping mode” (i.e. always browsing online or at the mall and not restraining from buying!)

5. Get back to twice-weekly strength training – I had been doing really good with this…until I started law school. haha. My time got to be so limited that in addition to my daily running, I only had time to strength train once a week. My schedule for the Spring semester gives me a little more time in the day, so I hope to get back to 2x a week strength workouts!

6. Hot Yoga once a week – This might be a tough one to find the time for with my school schedule, but I had been doing 1x week Hot Yoga last Spring and it was GREAT. Such a good complement to running 35+ miles a week!

7. Write more often – I love blogging, but I found that I didn’t have a lot of time to devote to it this past semester. When I started posting much more frequently in December, I really enjoyed the creative outlet that it provided! Eventually, my goal is to write a novel…just need to find that place to begin!

8. Take more pictures – I LOVE photography. When I’m feeling inspired, I can take some really “artsy” pictures! One, I would like to buy a better quality camera (especially if I do travel this summer!), and two, I would like to learn more about the art surrounding photography.

9. Go out more – Hey, you only live once…may as well have as much fun as possible! This is something I always struggle with…balancing school and a social life, especially since I’ve been in law school. But the truth is, if I used my time more wisely throughout the day, I could get everything done and still have time for some more fun!

10. Read more – And I don’t mean textbooks! I feel like all of my time is consumed reading for classes, but if I could just put down the textbooks to read a book for pure enjoyment once a week, that would be good enough for me!

What are your “goals” for the new year? Do you like to make resolutions and can you keep them?
