I still can’t really believe I’m a college graduate! I keep looking at my diploma to remind myself…haha. It’s crazy to think I could go out today and find a “real” job if I wasn’t planning to attend law school in the Fall. Instead, I’ll be lounging by the pool as a lifeguard yet again, and possibly working at the gym (fingers crossed!) as a fitness instructor until I begin law school in August.
Friday was Graduation day #1 for me…we had a big commencement ceremony in the Lane that was for all 5,000 of us graduates. There were chances for storms to pass through, so we had our fingers crossed that it wouldn’t rain on us as we were sitting in the middle of the football field! I think God was looking out for us that night…the rain held off until about 10 minutes after the ceremony, and then it started pouring! Good timing ;)
Saturday morning I woke up and felt a little anxious, so I decided to get in one more Hot Yoga session before I left the ‘Burg for good. After that I got ready for Graduation day #2, which was when I received my diploma. I was so proud to be walking across that stage after only three years of college! I give lots of credit to my advisor, who helped me coordinate my course of study planner in order to graduate early. And of course I give credit to my parents, who supported me through college and paid the tuition! I know they’re glad I made it out in only three years…cut down on their expenses quite a bit! ;)
After I received my diploma on Saturday, my family, the boy, and I all went out for dinner to celebrate. We sat on the rooftop deck of one of my favorite downtown restaurants and drank mojitos until dusk, then I decided to take them to another local bar for drinks. We ended up having a great time…especially after pitchers of beer and rounds of shots for everyone…haha. However, the night left me a little teary-eyed, as I faced the realization that college really was over with. I may not have LOVED it there all the time, but I do have tons of memories there and I’ll miss the campus and the friends I’ve made over the past three years. I think I was really in disbelief Saturday night, because I was thinking about how I could go back and get another degree in another major…haha. I think one Bachelors degree is enough…now onto bigger and better things! ;)
On Sunday, we packed up my townhouse and made it out of town before 2pm…record packing and moving time! Luckily, I got to ride with the boy, so I got to relax and enjoy the ride home instead of having to drive. Sometimes its nice to be chauffeured around! I started unpacking boxes on Monday…but I didn’t get far before I realized I was in desperate need of cleaning out my bedroom and closets before adding MORE things to them. I have things from high school that I just need to get rid of…so I spent the rest of the day doing that. I still have a LOT of unpacking to do now, and a little more cleaning out and getting rid of old things. I have tons of clothes that I don’t wear anymore…some even still have the tags on them. I may take them to a place like Plato’s Closet where I can sell them, because some of the clothes are really nice and in great condition! And a little extra $$$ can’t hurt, either!
Today I spoke with the fitness coordinator at my local gym about working part-time along with my lifeguarding job, so if I am able to do that, I need to take the ACE exam asap. I should probably study and prepare a little bit for that even though I just took the prep class at school…want to make sure I know what I’m talking about so I don’t fail miserably! haha. I found out this afternoon that I won tickets to see Brad Paisley in concert on Friday night…I love his music and wanted to go the concert so badly, but never got around to buying tickets. So I’m thrilled to be going…perfect beginning to summertime! ;)
