19. Favorite Christmas Music

19 Dec

Now I love Christmas music, don’t get me wrong! However, when you start to listen to Christmas music in the middle of November….yeah, you get a little burned out from it. Lesson not learned! But I still have my favorites that I like to listen to…some are traditional and some are modern takes on classic Christmas songs.

Trans Siberian Orchestra – I generally love all of TSO’s music, but these are few of my absolute favorites:

  • Mad Russian’s Christmas
  • Wizards in Winter
  • Christmas Canon Rock (All-time favorite…haha)
  • Carol of the Bells
  • The Lost Christmas Eve

Brad Paisley: Christmas – If you love Brad’s music, you’ll love this album.

  • Penguin, James Penguin
  • Away in a Manger
  • Born on Christmas Day

Kenny Chesney: All I Want For Christmas Is A Real Good Tan – Umm, its Kenny. Enough said ;)

  • All I Want For Christmas Is a Real Good Tan
  • The Angel At The Top Of My Tree
  • I’ll Be Home For Christmas

Coldplay

  • Christmas Lights
  • Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

And some more:

  • Jingle Bell Rock – Bobby Helms
  • My Only Wish This Year – Britney Spears (Who knew she sang Christmas music?!)
  • Holly Jolly Christmas – Burl Ives
  • The Most Wonderful Time of the Year – Andy Williams
  • All I Want For Christmas Is You – Mariah Carey

I clearly have an eclectic (?) taste in music…haha. I listen to pretty much anything and everything…I just love music. If you haven’t heard all of these songs, go check them out on iTunes or Amazon. It’ll definitely get you in the Christmas spirit, if you’re not already ;)

Its been a while…

27 May

I’m such a slacker about posting now that its summertime! I’ve been living the past two weeks up, because I start lifeguarding this weekend for the rest of the summer. Even so, I’ll still have free time…haha…its really not a bad job! I was actually just offered a better paying lifeguarding job at another pool…so as bad as it is, I think I’m going to have to bail on my current employer. The $$$ is just a lot better and I need to save all that I can for law school. Plus, I am getting ready to start training and taking workshops at my gym to become a fitness instructor. I’m really excited about that…I’ve been wanting to be a group exercise instructor for several years now :) So once I start teaching a few classes, that will give me even more summer income. Hey, its not much, but its more than what I have now! haha. I’m probably going to freak out when I have a “real” job in an office…I love being outdoors or at the gym, so these jobs are totally chill to me. Oh well, I’m going to live it up while I still can!

Let’s see—I haven’t posted anything since before the Brad Paisley concert last Friday. Well, the concert was awesome, as usual. He always puts on a great show, so its always a good time. I may have drank a little too much…especially since alcohol is crazy expensive at the amphitheater! But what can I say, I fit in perfectly with all the other concert-goers…I’d say about 3/4 of the crowd drinks at every concert I’ve ever gone to there. So, um, that’s where the amphitheater makes their $$$…not ticket sales and fees!

Saturday, I went with my mom to a local farmer’s market, where we bought some great fresh veggies. I made my grilled asparagus for dinner, which neither of my parents have tried, and they loved it. Found a new side to have with dinner a LOT this summer….love fresh asparagus! Sunday, my parents and I drove out to the “strawberry capital” of Tidewater VA to pick some great berries. We still have soooo many…might have to make a dessert of them soon!

I’ve been running a ton lately…plus its very convenient having a treadmill upstairs at home if you don’t have time to make it to the gym! Oh yeah, and watching the new big screen TV makes the miles go by super quickly ;)

Memorial weekend is almost here…and for most people, that means the BEACH! However, I haven’t had the opportunity to experience that in forever, since I’ve been lifeguarding since I was 16. Memorial weekend is always the first weekend of the pool season, at least around here. So I will be sitting by the pool getting paid and getting a decent tan…wishing I was laying on the beach with my best friends and boyfriend. Sigh…it’s a tough life…haha ;)

Graduation Recap!

18 May

I still can’t really believe I’m a college graduate! I keep looking at my diploma to remind myself…haha. It’s crazy to think I could go out today and find a “real” job if I wasn’t planning to attend law school in the Fall. Instead, I’ll be lounging by the pool as a lifeguard yet again, and possibly working at the gym (fingers crossed!) as a fitness instructor until I begin law school in August.

Friday was Graduation day #1 for me…we had a big commencement ceremony in the Lane that was for all 5,000 of us graduates. There were chances for storms to pass through, so we had our fingers crossed that it wouldn’t rain on us as we were sitting in the middle of the football field! I think God was looking out for us that night…the rain held off until about 10 minutes after the ceremony, and then it started pouring! Good timing ;)

Saturday morning I woke up and felt a little anxious, so I decided to get in one more Hot Yoga session before I left the ‘Burg for good. After that I got ready for Graduation day #2, which was when I received my diploma. I was so proud to be walking across that stage after only three years of college! I give lots of credit to my advisor, who helped me coordinate my course of study planner in order to graduate early. And of course I give credit to my parents, who supported me through college and paid the tuition! I know they’re glad I made it out in only three years…cut down on their expenses quite a bit! ;)

After I received my diploma on Saturday, my family, the boy, and I all went out for dinner to celebrate. We sat on the rooftop deck of one of my favorite downtown restaurants and drank mojitos until dusk, then I decided to take them to another local bar for drinks. We ended up having a great time…especially after pitchers of beer and rounds of shots for everyone…haha. However, the night left me a little teary-eyed, as I faced the realization that college really was over with. I may not have LOVED it there all the time, but I do have tons of memories there and I’ll miss the campus and the friends I’ve made over the past three years. I think I was really in disbelief Saturday night, because I was thinking about how I could go back and get another degree in another major…haha. I think one Bachelors degree is enough…now onto bigger and better things! ;)

On Sunday, we packed up my townhouse and made it out of town before 2pm…record packing and moving time! Luckily, I got to ride with the boy, so I got to relax and enjoy the ride home instead of having to drive. Sometimes its nice to be chauffeured around! I started unpacking boxes on Monday…but I didn’t get far before I realized I was in desperate need of cleaning out my bedroom and closets before adding MORE things to them. I have things from high school that I just need to get rid of…so I spent the rest of the day doing that. I still have a LOT of unpacking to do now, and a little more cleaning out and getting rid of old things. I have tons of clothes that I don’t wear anymore…some even still have the tags on them. I may take them to a place like Plato’s Closet where I can sell them, because some of the clothes are really nice and in great condition! And a little extra $$$ can’t hurt, either!

Today I spoke with the fitness coordinator at my local gym about working part-time along with my lifeguarding job, so if I am able to do that, I need to take the ACE exam asap. I should probably study and prepare a little bit for that even though I just took the prep class at school…want to make sure I know what I’m talking about so I don’t fail miserably! haha. I found out this afternoon that I won tickets to see Brad Paisley in concert on Friday night…I love his music and wanted to go the concert so badly, but never got around to buying tickets. So I’m thrilled to be going…perfect beginning to summertime! ;)
