Life As I Know It

2 Nov

Here’s a few pictures to show what’s been going on lately : )

Went to the mountains to pick apples and tour wineries…perfect Fall day :)

Spent the day visiting historic places and hiking near the river on Fall break :)

Went to a Ke$ha, 3OH!3, and hellogoodbye concert…Um, that was interesting. 3OH!3 is the bomb…and Ke$ha sure does have some flamboyant followers…that’s all I’m gonna say about that.

My best friend got married…and I was in her wedding :) The entire wedding weekend was amazing and the ceremony & reception were so gorgeous!

I ran the Wicked 10k in Virginia Beach…and PR’d :) 49:57! I’ll take it ;)

Anything exciting going on in your life?!

Graduation Recap!

18 May

I still can’t really believe I’m a college graduate! I keep looking at my diploma to remind myself…haha. It’s crazy to think I could go out today and find a “real” job if I wasn’t planning to attend law school in the Fall. Instead, I’ll be lounging by the pool as a lifeguard yet again, and possibly working at the gym (fingers crossed!) as a fitness instructor until I begin law school in August.

Friday was Graduation day #1 for me…we had a big commencement ceremony in the Lane that was for all 5,000 of us graduates. There were chances for storms to pass through, so we had our fingers crossed that it wouldn’t rain on us as we were sitting in the middle of the football field! I think God was looking out for us that night…the rain held off until about 10 minutes after the ceremony, and then it started pouring! Good timing ;)

Saturday morning I woke up and felt a little anxious, so I decided to get in one more Hot Yoga session before I left the ‘Burg for good. After that I got ready for Graduation day #2, which was when I received my diploma. I was so proud to be walking across that stage after only three years of college! I give lots of credit to my advisor, who helped me coordinate my course of study planner in order to graduate early. And of course I give credit to my parents, who supported me through college and paid the tuition! I know they’re glad I made it out in only three years…cut down on their expenses quite a bit! ;)

After I received my diploma on Saturday, my family, the boy, and I all went out for dinner to celebrate. We sat on the rooftop deck of one of my favorite downtown restaurants and drank mojitos until dusk, then I decided to take them to another local bar for drinks. We ended up having a great time…especially after pitchers of beer and rounds of shots for everyone…haha. However, the night left me a little teary-eyed, as I faced the realization that college really was over with. I may not have LOVED it there all the time, but I do have tons of memories there and I’ll miss the campus and the friends I’ve made over the past three years. I think I was really in disbelief Saturday night, because I was thinking about how I could go back and get another degree in another major…haha. I think one Bachelors degree is enough…now onto bigger and better things! ;)

On Sunday, we packed up my townhouse and made it out of town before 2pm…record packing and moving time! Luckily, I got to ride with the boy, so I got to relax and enjoy the ride home instead of having to drive. Sometimes its nice to be chauffeured around! I started unpacking boxes on Monday…but I didn’t get far before I realized I was in desperate need of cleaning out my bedroom and closets before adding MORE things to them. I have things from high school that I just need to get rid of…so I spent the rest of the day doing that. I still have a LOT of unpacking to do now, and a little more cleaning out and getting rid of old things. I have tons of clothes that I don’t wear anymore…some even still have the tags on them. I may take them to a place like Plato’s Closet where I can sell them, because some of the clothes are really nice and in great condition! And a little extra $$$ can’t hurt, either!

Today I spoke with the fitness coordinator at my local gym about working part-time along with my lifeguarding job, so if I am able to do that, I need to take the ACE exam asap. I should probably study and prepare a little bit for that even though I just took the prep class at school…want to make sure I know what I’m talking about so I don’t fail miserably! haha. I found out this afternoon that I won tickets to see Brad Paisley in concert on Friday night…I love his music and wanted to go the concert so badly, but never got around to buying tickets. So I’m thrilled to be going…perfect beginning to summertime! ;)

Wonderful weekend in the city

1 Dec

The trip to Charlotte, NC was amazing…a long drive though!!! 5 hours plus dealing with traffic…but we made it fun :) We got to the city around 2pm on Saturday, and after checking into the Hilton, went walking around. Strangely enough, the city was pretty much deserted! I’m not used to that…every big city I’ve been to ALWAYS has people walking around and lots of stores and restaurants open. So after wandering around and finding pretty much every store closed, we decided to watch the VT/UVA game in a nearby sports bar. That turned out to be really fun…every wall was covered with TVs so we kept up with multiple games at once and I got to see my Hokies win :) After the game, we went back to the hotel and got ready for the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert. The arena was only a few blocks from our hotel, so the walk wasn’t bad and it wasn’t too cold outside either. The concert was really nice, but suprisingly, not as good as I expected. Last year it was actually better…don’t quote me on this, but it seemed as though they used the EXACT same playlist for the first half of the show as they did last year. A little disappointing, but overall still a good show!

Sunday, after checking out of the hotel (by the way, this is the first hotel where I’ve seen a NOON checkout time!), we stopped at Starbucks, which always makes me happy to know that I found a guy who loves Starbucks as much as I do :) On the way home, we stopped in Concord Mills, NC…which if you don’t know, is a WONDERFUL shopping area. I highly recommend it if you’re ever in the area! We spent wayyy too much time and money there, but had lots of fun. I think Sunday was actually a better day than Saturday overall :) We got home super late for a Sunday night, and I did not want to go to class the next day. So I slept late, and went to 4 out of 5 classes. Can’t believe there are only 5 more days of classes to go…where did the semester go?! On that note, I should get back to my three 10-12 page papers due within a week…yikes!

Pretty lights in Charlotte

Super huge Bass Pro Shops and Outdoor World :)

Anticipation :)

10 Nov

I feel like I have soooooo much to do before this month is over…I sense a trend in my blog posts…they’re all about how many things I have to do! ha ha maybe I’m procrastinating a little. Good news is, the house is mainly clean for the party this weekend, so the only thing to do is cook, decorate, and convince my mom to leave the house with me on Saturday so my dad, aunt, and boyfriend can get to work decorating the house!

I’m looking forward to the Charlotte, NC trip with Michael…only 17 more days! We’re going to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra…if you have never been to their Holiday concert, you are definitely missing out!!! It is amazing and it gets you in a Christmas mood :) Unfortunately, I have a term paper, a group project, and two exams between today and when we leave. Soooo I’m going to stay busy it looks like!
